Hey there! As the days grow longer and we shake off the last remnants of winter, I've been deep in a mix of projects that span from app development to music, and even a dive into AI with a new GPT creation. Borrowing a term from my friend Mitch's blog, Sidequest Club, I've embarked on a variety of "sidequests" that have kept my creative juices flowing. Let's dive into what I've been up to.
Gradient Synth: Unlocking Polyphony
First off, there's big news on the Gradient Synth front. We've introduced polyphony, adding layers of complexity and depth to your musical creations. We're just days away from launching the public beta, which is super exciting. Picture yourself layering melodies and harmonies, creating richer soundscapes. But that's not all – we're also working on allowing users to customize effects, giving you even more control over your sound. Here is a demo of polyphony in action.
New App Ventures: Dim Lights and Retro Sights
On the coding side of things, I've been pushing my limits with a couple of new apps. There's a dim flashlight app for iPhone in the works, designed for those moments when you need a gentle light instead of a blinding flash. I'm also developing an "8bit Vision" camera app that pixelates your world in real-time, turning everyday scenes into retro video game graphics. Here is a video demo! These projects are my way of blending nostalgia with modern tech, creating something both useful and fun.
Music Moves: EP Release and More
Musically, there's plenty on the horizon. My EP, Cycles, will release on April 20th, 2024 – a date chosen for its palindromic charm. It's a reflection on the recurring patterns in life and creativity. On the same day, I'll be playing drums for brothervsrobot, which is shaping up to be an epic show. Looking ahead, I'm planning my visit to Superbooth in May for a dose of electronic music inspiration. Plus, there's a secret music project with a European flavor in the works for later this year.
Introducing Chicket: A Fresh GPT Creation
This morning, I launched a new GPT called Chicket – a digital companion designed to bring a touch of whimsy and insight to your online event search. You can check out Chicket here. It's my latest exploration into the world of generative AI, offering a new perspective on interaction and creativity.
Navigating these diverse projects has been a reminder of the joys of exploration and the growth that comes from stepping into the unknown. Whether it's through developing new apps, crafting soundscapes, or exploring AI, the journey is as rewarding as the destination. To all the creators, dreamers, and the endlessly curious: let's embrace the spirit of sidequesting and see where it leads us.
